Download Infantry Launchpad

Official Download Site

While your are downloading, I recommend you read this quick guide on the basic steps you will need to do, know, and understand before you start showing the other Infantry players who their daddy is ; ).

Installation

Adjust your Settings

I believe this is crucial, as the default settings can drastically lessen your experience when first entering a zone and attempting to play. All of the settings you will need to change can be changed from your Zone List screen.

1. Change your Resolution
I would recommend you use 1280×1024 or 1600×1200 depending on your computer’s ability. One of the greatest things about Infantry is being able to play in Windowed Mode, will allow you to easily switch between programs and multi-task. To do this, make sure your Display Properties is to display Medium (16 Bit) Color quality. Then select Windowed Mode from your zone list screen and you can easily make Infantry full screen windowed mode by double clicking on its title bar (at the top)

2. Change you Key Setup
Take a few minutes to view the key setup options by clicking View menu on zone list and selecting Movement Configuration, then Keyboard/Key Configuration. Even most of the oldest Infantry players find these default settings to handicap you tremendously when trying to play. The easiest option to getting a great and combat proven setup is to download this program, InfantrySetup.exe. It will allow you to load the InfantryZones.com recommended setup directly into your client.

If you wish to setup your controls manually, read this paragraph, otherwise skip it. The default setup uses only the keyboard and is very awkward on the hands. The easiest to use setups involve variations of the classic First Person Shooter key setups, Mouse + WASD. To allow yourself to aim and turn with the use of the mouse, select View under Zone List screen, then select Movement Configuration. Select the “Mouse Mode” option and define all the mouse keys as “Nothing”, you can set these in the next screen. Now you can start setting your keys by selecting View > Keyboard/Key Configuration. This is my variation of WASD+Mouse setup and I suggest you make yours similar to it.

Enter a Zone

1. Select a zone friendly for new players
All the zones under [I:Arcade] tag are fairly easy to play and are great for starting out in. however these aren’t always populated. If these are not populated, I suggest you enter a [I:SK] zone or a [I:Sports] zone. Once you have made your choice, click Enter and it will download all zone specific files.

Learn the Interface

1. Chat System
The chat system is located on the bottom of your screen. You may type to players by simply hitting keyboard keys or by first pressing Enter, depending on your keyboard configuration. If you would like to talk to only your teammates, type “//” before your message. You may enter the moderator chat for any assistance by typing “?chat !911″ then using “;” before any messages to type in that chat. The full details of the moderation system are explained in detail in this guide.

2. Player List
The Player List is located on the top right of the screen and allows you to view players by their alias and by what team they are on.

3. Inventory List
The Inventory List is below the Player List and allows your to view your equipment. You can manually assign keys to your Weapon Keys by right clicking the piece of equipment and selecting which one you would like.
4. Character Status
The Character Status is the last part of the Right Menu; it contains your health, energy, and weight.

5. Radar Screen
The radar is located on bottom right of your screen and can be re sized to fit your needs by selecting the corner of it and dragging it, or right clicking the radar image. This will allow you to see enemies and teammates before they are visible on your main screen.
