Infantry: A Rough Timeline
1 CE The formation of the Collective.
10 CE The first self sustaining colony is established at Amundsen on the Moon.
15-30 CE “Lunar Rush” The Moon is colonized at an astonishing rate with over ten bases established during this period.
35 CE “Martian Ascent.” The first man on mars is Chun-Sen. “One mans steps lead us to heaven.” Are the first words spoken on Mars.
40 CE “Oudemans” base is set up on Mars.
41 CE A Japanese Buddhist monastery is given permission to set up a colony on Mercury. It becomes known as project Icarus when it disappears without trace.
44 CE Ceres is colonized by the communications giant “SolCom”.
50 CE Colonization of Jupiter’s moons begins with Europa.
54 CE “DNV” body treatments become available. Effectively destroying all hereditary diseases.
56-70 CE “Flood Gates”. During an unprecedented period of prosperity and social change Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus are all heavily colonized.
110 CE First manned mission to Neptune “Foxstabs Dreamer” is lost.
116 CE Albert Renne is the first documented Psionic ever. His ability to move objects with his mind causes uproar.
118 CE The Psi Equality Movement takes place 100 miles from Titan’s capital city Kaiser City near a small outpost known as Titan City. Titan city was among the first colonies established in the outer solar system. A group of psionics that were being illegally held escaped and told the media about the discrimination they and other psionics had faced. The event inspired psionics all over the solar system to admit their abilities openly.
120 CE Second manned mission to Neptune “Alexander” suffers a catastrophic engine failure near triton and is forced to limp home.
121 CE First manned mission to Pluto arrives in orbit and sets up a communications beacon on Charon.
129 CE Albert Renne is assassinated.
130 CE “Longevity” drug is discovered. Effectively doubling the lifespan of humans. Unfortunately, it requires rare elements found only in the outer solar system.
131 CE Psi-Institute is founded as a group composed entirely of Psionics.
167 CE “Colony tax” is imposed by the Collective as a way too offset the huge costs of colonization.
168 CE “Aztech” Power Corp refuses to pay the new tax. Azteches assets are seized by the collective.
169 CE The first case of space piracy occurs. The freighter “Asmodeus” returns to earth reporting that it was attacked by two converted shuttles while traveling from Jupiter to Earth. 28 craft had disappeared in the previous decade many now wonder how many of them were due to piracy.
175 CE Collective Marines intercept and destroy a pirate ship in Moon space. Captured pirates are found to be ex-Martian colonists who report of a huge network of piracy in the asteroid belt.
180 CE The collective dispatches a war fleet to attack and destroy the pirates. This fleet is successful and uncovers links to piracy in almost every Jupiter colony. The Collective votes to punish these colonies and passes the “Jovian Internment Act”. Thousands are imprisoned.
181 CE First anti-collective riots occur on Earth as relatives of the Jovian colonists protest at their harsh treatment. By vote the riots are suppressed by force.
182 CE Europa garrison is repeatedly attacked by guerrillas striking from the ocean depths. Reprisals against civilians are harsh.
183 CE Massacre of Io occurs when prisoner miners refuse to work under slave conditions. After seizing the prison and killing guards the entire complex is pumped with nerve gas. Amazingly some prisoners survive and are transported back to earth for trail.
191 CE Kaiser City on Titan declares independence in a shock move. Local Collective forces are quickly overwhelmed and soon the entire planet is in revolt.
193-200 CE “1st Titan War’ Collective forces dispatched from Jupiter attack Titan. In the seven year war that follows Titan is re-conquered in a long and bloody battle.
196-201 CE “The Siege of Ganymede” After heavy taxes imposed to help support the war on Titan Ganymede goes into open non-violent rebellion by refusing to pay any taxes. The Collective responds by imposing a complete embargo upon the moon. The siege lasts for five years. The moon never falls.
198 CE “The fall of Europa” with resources drained to fight Titan the Collective weakens its Europa garrison. It quickly falls to the undersea guerrilla’s and Eurpoa is free of collective rule.
199-???CE “The Europa civil war” begins. Protected by its huge icy shell Europa is safe from the forces of the Collective. They instead turn on each other and a civil war becomes increasingly vicious.
201 CE “Lunar revolt.” Lunar which has consistently voted against military action against the outer colonies stops sending troops to support the war. The collective responds by heavy bombardment of some colonies. The Lunar revolt is quickly crushed by Lunar citizens who now regard themselves as prisoners.
210-215 CE “Operation Ragnarok” The great Collective offensive which drew all available troops from Earth to retake the colonies. Millions died in this system wide war now regarded as the last gasp of a dying empire. Ragnarok Severed permanently the bonds between Earth and the new worlds of the solar system.
214 CE “2nd Titan War” During Ragnarok Titan once again “liberates” itself this time seemingly for good.
215 CE Incredible losses in the outer solar system lead to massive riots on earth. The Collective decides to end the offensive and maintain its grip on its remaining colonies.
216 CE Mars company “White Wing” announces that it will now trade with new worlds despite a Collective ban. They are quickly followed by most other Mega-Corps.
220 CE Collective embargo is dropped on colony goods and trade resumes.
221 CE Collective starts policy of “active conversion” within outer colonies. This amounts to a cold war of terrorism and raids.
224 CE Ganymede/Io war. The two newly formed nations go to war. This is the beginning of the squabbles between the new worlds.
244 CE March 12th Operation “Open Arms” begins. The Collective Military attempts to regain control of the outer solar system by force. The resulting battle stretched the military thin and factions within the collective began fighting to end the operation. The Collective Military fought back to try to restore order. The Collective was heavily armed from operation “Open Arms” so the remaining people on Terra(Earth) resorted to using Neutrons weapons. Neutron weapons decimated billions as escalation followed escalation because no one recognized an authority who could say “stop”.
245 CE The news off planet was treated with disbelief. The outer colonies began to lose all order and social structure. From earth, there was only silence.
275 CE In the decades following the destruction of earth, the outer planets fought to restore order under the rule of wealthy families and regional warlords. Remaining members of the Collective banded together to save what was left of the Collective ideology and established a strong presence on Mars. Kaiser City on Titan had long been considered the capital of the outer solar system. It’s colony council met with the leaders of all the outer colonies to establish a new government known as United Moons, which was named after the united moons resistance front that helped restore order in Eol Crater on Titan after the great Collective civil war that destroyed Terra in 244 CE. In all of the chaos, mega-corporations and weapons manufacturers were thriving. They were a major factor in every government decision.
283 CE After years of rebuilding and attempting to restore order, the resources of both United Moons and the Collective Military outpost on Mars began to dwindle at an alarming rate. Fighting between the two factions continued on a smaller scale than it had before. General Naivatco, the supreme commander of the Collective Military contacted members of the Gehlen royal family of Tethys concerning a temporary cease fire and proposed a joint effort to search for new resources in the outer reaches of the solar system. The Gehlen family was highly esteemed on Titan and all of the other United Moons colonies due to it’s role in saving Titan from complete obliteration when it’s sole transport from earth broke down and had to return to earth for reapairs. With the help of the Gehlen family, General Naivatco was able to form an alliance between the Collective and United moons.
284 CE During the months following the alliance treaty signing at Athens on Europa, the Collective and United Moons sent their best scientist and engineers to mount a mission to Neptune and it’s largest moon Triton. Triton was widely known as a haven for pirates and outlaws. Previous expeditions showed that there were large deposits of minerals like Unnilenium, Tsolvy, and Titanium Oxide in Triton’s underground caves. After setting up an outpost in the Triton Badlands, the alliance scientist traveled to Pluto’s moon Charon to the communications beacon that was set up in 121 CE and converted it to an exploration outpost to search for mineral deposits in objects at the outer edge of the solarsystem in a region known as the Oort Cloud.
288 CE The continued efforts resulted in the discovery of several large resource deposits in outlying areas of the solar system. Among these discoveries was a small planet almost the size of Pluto with very large deposits of Titanium Oxide, which the alliance scientist named Kleos. Kleos is a greek word that means glory; a fitting name for a planet discovered through an alliance of all humans throughout the planetary system. The Terran race once again began to flourish. The group of scientist continued to work on advanced technologies such as warp engine drives in hopes of someday traveling to other star systems to find another planet like Terra…A new homeplanet for all humans.
292 CE In the fall of 292, the fragile alliance between the Collective and United Moons began to break down after several years of peace and prosperity. Arguments over resource allocation began to take their toll on both sides. The truce was finally broken when the Titan Militia Security Force and The Collective Military began fighting for control of the Triton badlands.
295 CE After three years of bitter fighting over Triton, a cease fire was agreed upon. With the carnage that took place still fresh in the minds of the people, the governments of both the Collective and United Moons searched for a way to resolve the conflict over the resources on Kleos without too much loss of human life. Titan’s secretary of war Jake Syco offered the idea of a controlled small-scale war in a secluded valley of the planet as a solution to minimize the massive bloodshed that had been so common in previous conflicts. Collective’s General Naivatco concurred.
